Pro-Life Scholarships for Students

Scholarship Program – Earn up to $8000 for College

Texas Right to Life's "Generation Now" Pro-Life Leader Scholarship Program ensures a Pro-Life message is present on college campuses; students need to hear and learn why innocent human life must be respected from fertilization until natural death. The college years are a pinnacle time in students’ lives when many decide which values they will uphold. Over the course of their undergraduate collegiate education, recipients of the scholarship can earn up to $8,000 by educating their peers on the life issues through interactive and engaging events and activities.

Eligible applicants should have at least three years of undergraduate coursework remaining and be enrolled in a 4-year accredited university by Fall 2011. Applicants attending an out-of-state university must complete one year of studies at that university prior to applying. A mandatory summer training (in Houston) will further inculcate the principles of defending the right to life and refine skills to compassionately, effectively, and peacefully address the controversial issues of abortion, infanticide, stem cell research, and euthanasia. Applications for Fall 2011 enrollees must be received by April 4, 2011.

Graduate Scholarship Program – Earn $1000 Each Semester

Pro-Life values are often decried and challenged in nursing school, medical school, and law school. A support network fosters the maintenance of these strong convictions among graduate students. A limited number of scholarships are reserved for nursing, medical, and law students who are willing to establish a Pro-Life organization and host speakers and seminars at their in-state graduate school. Texas Right to Life will assist and mentor the students in these efforts.

High School Summer Camps

Pro-Lifers know how to rough it! Join us at REveAL, Texas Right to Life’s second annual summer camp for high school students, on July 23rd-July 26th at Messiah’s Ranch in Bryan, TX. Last year’s campers had so much fun that they demanded another camp to address more advanced topics!

Thus, REveAL2 will begin on the afternoon of July 26th and end on July 30th. We’ll dig deeper into stem cell research, euthanasia, and human cloning. Campers can expect to build long-lasting friendships with peers who share their values while playing games, exploring the outdoors, and learning the fundamentals of Pro-Life issues:

-- How was abortion legalized?

-- How do you respond to those who are pro-abortion?

-- What’s the difference between embryonic and adult stem cell research?

-- Why should you worry about euthanasia?

Student Oratory Contest

Students classified as juniors or seniors in high school are invited to research and write a 5-7 minute speech on any Pro-Life issue. Contestants will compete against other Texans for a chance to win a scholarship to National Right to Life’s contest. Local contests will be held in Houston, Dallas, Conroe, Madisonville, and San Antonio during February and March; registration deadlines vary for each contest. The first place winner of each competition will advance to the state contest to be held in Houston on April 16, 2011. (Expenses for the Texas winner will be paid for travel to the national contest to be held in Jacksonville, FL on June 25, 2011.)
